Livestock Guard Dogs
We currently have three intact guardians on our farm.
We do plan to raise puppies in the future. Our first litter will either be in 2024 or 2025
Our litters are bred to work and will be raised with the dairy goats
We will only sell puppies to homes where they will live with livestock and have a job to do
Our dogs are friendly with us, but will alert us when strangers are around
A little about Maremma's (our primary breed, pronounced Mare-emma):
Maremma's originiated in Italy. The breed standard says they are courageous without being aggressive.
They are all white in color, although they are allowed a little shading of ivory, pale orange or lemon (see Treason's color).
Ideally males are 25 1/2 - 28 1/2 inches tall and 77 - 99 pounds. Females are 25 1/2 - 26 3/4 inches tall and 66 - 88 pounds.
They do not tend to roam as much as Pyrs do, and they are generally not a loud breed.
A little about Great Pyrenees:
They do tend to roam and bark more than the Maremma's, from our experience (although Tori does not roam).
They are white and allowed markings of gray, badger, reddish brown or varying shades of tan. Color points may appear on their ears, head, tail and a few body spots.
Ideally males are 27 - 32 inches and weigh 100 pounds and above. Females are 25 - 29 inches and weigh 85 pounds and above.
